Look at my Face

Lyrics

Show me love if you want to
Doesn’t matter! I know who I am
Keep it up, fire your shots at me
You can go off! But I won’t even see you!

It’s dark inside, I cannot hide

Look at my face
As the pain just falls away
My heart’s not yours now its unchained
Look at my face
I know you want a taste
You only have yourself to blame

Walk away, turn yourself around
These stilettos are stepping over you
Beat me up, only if you can catch me
But it’s too late, I’m already gone!

It’s dark inside I cannot hide

Look at my face
As the pain just falls away
My heart’s not yours now its unchained
Look at my face
I know you want a taste
You only have yourself to blame

Cut me out, throw me away, burn my picture
You’ll still see my face
Cut me out, throw me away, burn my picture
You’ll still see my face, so...

Look at my face
As the pain just falls away
My heart’s not yours now its unchained
Look at my face
I know you want a taste
You only have yourself to blame

About the song

The minute I began writing this song, I decided it was the way I wanted to start the album. For my first song, I wanted to make a statement about where I used to be and where I am now. I want this song to be a reminder that sometimes there are people in your life who bully you, or who look at you as insignificant or broken, but one of the most liberating things you can do with people like this is to stop caring what they think or what they try to do to you. Find yourself and be proud of yourself, then when they see you or think about you, they can only see someone who is confident and unaffected by their arrogance and negativity. We have to stop giving those people our attention and letting them take up space in our thoughts. By the time they understand your beauty, you will have already moved on and they will have to watch you live your amazing life without them, all while you are living in their head rent free. The only person they will have to blame for missing out is themselves.
